#009 - Cleaning Commodes

Amazingly enough, water can be just as difficult a cleaning challenge as soil.  Why is this you ask?  The answer is simple.  Hard water deposits find their way on your toilet, commode, stool, or whatever you choose to call it.  When hard water is a problem, the right tools are essential.

When you find hard water buildup, typically it is rust or other hard water deposits which are alkaline in nature.  Scrubbing with a bristle brush is in fact, not the answer.  What your looking for is a chemical that will neutralize the alkalinity.  You need an acid bowl cleaner!

My recommendation is to use a bowl swab along with an acid bowl cleaner and allow the acid to do the work.  First, plung the water out of your toilet.  Second, apply the acid bowl cleaner to the swab.  Third, make contact between the acid bowl cleaner on the swab and the hard water residue.  If it is necessary, apply the acid bowl cleaner to the hard water deposits and let sit 5 to 10 minutes.  Then swab it up.

You will find that the acid will react with the alkalinity and be neutralized right out.
